Mumtalakat Employees in Amazon Web Services Training Drive
Husain Alsaffar is amongst the first Bahrainis to be awarded the AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
Following its adoption of the national Cloud First Policy of the Government of Bahrain, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain, announced that one of its Information Technology (IT) division employees, Husain Alsaffar, has been successfully awarded the AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Husain is amongst the first Bahrainis to be awarded the certificate.
The AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional is the highest-level technical role-based certification. It validates technical expertise in providing, operating, and managing distributed application systems on the AWS platform. Alsaffar’s certification came following Mumtalakat’s successful migration of the company’s IT infrastructure to AWS cloud and the closure of its onsite and offsite data centres in May this year.
Commenting on this, Mohamed Sater, Head of IT at Mumtalakat said, “Since our migration to AWS in May, Mumtalakat has been leading the drive to use cloud computing. Husain has played an active role in helping us implement the Government technology migration plan becoming the first government-owned company in Bahrain to implement it fully. Now that he’s completed the AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, he has set an example for others to follow suit.”
The company’s IT department members are in the process of acquiring various AWS certificates. Pramod Nambiar, IT Manager, and Nezar Radhi, Senior Associate, were recently awarded AWS Solutions Architect – Associate certificate for their knowledge of how to architect and deploy secure and robust applications on AWS technologies in addition to their ability to design effective solutions.
Husain Alsaffar, Senior Associate IT at Mumtalakat added, “The programme was crucial to develop my knowledge and skills and I now have an in-depth understanding in the fields of automating and implementing security controls, governance processes, compliance validation and logging systems. I hope that with the new skills I gained through the programme, I can add more value to the organisation.”
Since May 2018, Mumtalakat has been encouraging its local portfolio companies to migrate their digital infrastructure to cloud-based solutions, ensuring sizeable cost savings and increased security for Government-owned companies.
