Mumtalakat Group Commemorate World Blood Donor Day

Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain, held a Blood Donation Drive today to commemorate World Blood Donor Day, which this year coincided with the Holy Month of Ramadan. This international day recognises voluntary blood donors while raising awareness of the importance of regular blood donations.

“Mumtalakat has been organising regular blood drives since 2012 in recognition of this invaluable service to humanity. Initiatives like this give us all an opportunity to reflect on our possible contributions to the world around us. By volunteering to donate blood, we play an important role in ensuring that hospitals have an adequate supply of good quality blood for blood transfusions and for various medical and surgical procedures,” explained Suha Matar, Mumtalakat’s Head of Communications & Public Affairs.

The Blood Donation Drive, organised in partnership with the Ministry of Health’s Central Blood Bank, took place at the Arcapita Building, Bahrain Bay. Over sixty staff members of the Mumtalakat Group in Bahrain as well as from companies located in the Arcapita building, including family members and friends of the employees, participated in the drive. Blood was donated only after testing and approval by the attendant physician.

“On behalf of Mumtalakat’s Management, I thank all our participants who came forward in large numbers in support of this noble cause. They have indeed set an example for others to follow suit. This wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance of the Central Blood Bank’s medical team and the support of the Arcapita Building management.” added Ms Matar.
