A Bahrain-based education platform, the Elm Fund was established for the purpose of developing the education sector in Bahrain and the wider Middle East and North Africa region.

The fund has invested in the American University of Bahrain (AUBH), which opened in September 2019, and is operated through the Fund.  AUBH is the first comprehensive, purpose-built, American-style co-educational university in the Kingdom of Bahrain with a contemporary, high-tech and innovative 75,000 square meter campus located in Riffa that provides an enhanced teaching and learning experience for both faculty and students.

Elm has also entered into a joint venture with the world’s largest operator of high-quality international American schools, Esol Education, to co-own and operate the American School of Bahrain (ASB) which opened its doors in September 2020.  With a 60,000 square meter state-of-the-art campus also located in Riffa, and a capacity to accommodate 1200 students, ASB is home to one of the most advanced K-12 learning environments in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
